Executive Director of Student Ministry

Tyler was born and raised in Hartland, Michigan with his parents, John & Sarah and his sister, Andi./files/Staff Info/Tyler.jpg Growing up, he was always busy hanging out with friends and playing sports, including golf, basketball, soccer, baseball, track & cross country. He was also very involved in his youth group where he first felt a call to be in ministry. Upon graduating high school, he attended North Central University in Minneapolis where he majored in Youth Ministries. Besides finishing his degree, Tyler was also very involved in intramural sports & was the captain of the golf team. In his second year, he met his wife Sarah, who is from Red Wing, Minnesota.

Sarah was born in Calcutta India but was adopted by her mom, Lucia when she was just three months old. Her mother is a single mom, who has never been married. She adopted four other children, two of which have special needs. Her mom also regularly hosted and continues to host foster children. Growing up, Sarah was involved in choir, orchestra, band, tennis, track, various academic clubs, youth group and was crowned Ms. Red Wing. After high school, Sarah also went to North Central University where she completed her one year certificate of music.  She then transferred to Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis where she majored in Nursing.

While in college, Tyler and Sarah had the opportunity to travel and speak in area high schools about abstinence and healthy life choices through an organization called New Life Family Services. Also during that time, they had the opportunity to work as part-time student ministry pastors at a church in New Prague, MN. Following Tyler's graduation in May of 2008, the two were married on June 14th in Red Wing. For the past two years, they have been living in Springboro, Ohio where Tyler was working as a student ministries pastor. Sarah is in the process of finishing her nursing degree and was working as a Down syndrome specialist assistant at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. They do not have any kids but do have a boxer named Chauncey (named after Chauncey Billups, the former Detroit Pistons basketball player). Outside of work, they enjoy playing sports, corn hole (or "beanbags" as Minnesotans call it), working out and being outdoors. Tyler is an avid Michigan Wolverines fan who likes to get out and play sports (or do anything competitive) whenever he can. Sarah is also a sports fan but her true passions are music, fashion and working with teenagers. Together, the two of them have big goals and dreams for their future and are excited to join the Horizons church family!
